Prinz Alte Williams-Christ Pear
Special features: Prinz Alte Williams-Christ Pear is produced in Austria by the Fein-Brennerei Prinz, a family business in its fourth generation, founded in 1886. This fruit brandy variation is made from fully ripe Williams-Christ pears that thrive in the mild microclimate of the Lake Constance region. After careful harvesting, the pears are cored and processed into a mash before the distillate is double distilled in copper pot stills. To preserve the aromatic diversity, a gentle vacuum distillation takes place at low temperatures. After distillation, the brandy matures for several months in wooden barrels, which gives it a fine oak note and contributes to its golden color.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: The nose reveals an intense aroma of ripe Williams-Christ pears, accompanied by floral notes and a subtle oak note.
- Palate: On the palate, a full-bodied yet soft taste with juicy pears and a subtle sweetness, complemented by pleasant herbal-spicy notes.
- Finish: The finish is long and fruity, with a fine oak note.
Distillery/Bottler: Since its founding in 1886, the Fein-Brennerei Prinz has specialized in processing regional fruits into high-quality fruit brandies and liqueurs. The Williams-Christ pears from selected locations around Lake Constance are particularly significant for the Alte Williams-Christ Pear. The pears are harvested, processed, and distilled multiple times in several steps to optimally extract the fruity aromas. The several months of maturation in wooden barrels adds additional complexity and character.
