Proper No. Twelve Original combines single malt and grain whiskey in an Irish blend aged for at least four years. The whiskeys mature in charred ex-bourbon barrels and are bottled at 40%.

During maturation, the whiskey develops notes of vanilla, honey and toasted wood. Baked apple and ripe berries add a fruity dimension, while creamy toffee defines the warming finish. Overall, the blend is smooth and approachable.

Distillery/Bottler:

Proper No. Twelve was launched by Eire Born Spirits in 2018 and originated with Conor McGregor. Working with Master Distiller David Elder, McGregor developed almost 100 versions before they selected the final blend. The name refers to Crumlin in Dublin 12, where McGregor grew up.

The Bushmills Distillery produces the triple-distilled whiskey base for Proper No. Twelve Original. The malt component is made from locally sourced malted barley and water from a nearby spring. A 50-hour fermentation produces a wash that is then triple distilled in copper pot stills. After at least four years of maturation in charred ex-bourbon barrels, the Master Blender selects suitable single malt and grain whiskeys and marries them to create the finished blend.
