Old oak casks with a capacity of 400 litres shape this vintage cognac from Grande Champagne. The harvest dates from 1982, and the cognac was bottled in March 2019 at its natural cask strength of 55.8%. The release comprises 570 numbered bottles, each containing 0.7 litres, presented in a wooden box.

The cognac is non-chill filtered and contains no added colouring. Its character combines pronounced nutty rancio notes with citrus touches and floral accents. A dense, oily texture sits alongside a lightness that is remarkable for such a powerful vintage.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose is rich and very powerful. Nutty rancio aromas take centre stage, accompanied by orange. Fruity impressions and gentle woody notes complete the bouquet.
• Palate: On the palate, the cognac is dense, oily and full-bodied, yet surprisingly light on its feet. White truffle and orange blossom provide earthy and floral accents. Caramel, dried fruit and a gentle spiciness round out the flavour.
• Finish: The long finish is warm, with lingering nutty and vanilla notes.

Distillery/Bottler:

The Prunier family's history in the cognac trade stretches back to the beginning of the 18th century, when Jean Prunier shipped wine and cognac through the port of La Rochelle. From 1850, a later Jean Prunier commissioned the buildings in the town of Cognac that still form part of the house's headquarters. The maturation cellars in Gimeux were added in 1947.

Maison Prunier works with selected winegrowers and family distillers, taking over the further maturation of their spirits. For cognacs intended for particularly long ageing, the house favours spirits distilled from wines with their fine lees. Predominantly older oak casks are used to keep the influence of the wood restrained and preserve the spirits' elegance. The vintage collection focuses on the distinctive qualities of each vintage, growing area and distiller.

In 1995, Stéphane Burnez began having selected old cognacs bottled for the vintage collection directly from their ageing casks at their natural alcoholic strength. This continues the local tradition of tasting cognac unaltered from the cask. Today, his daughter Alice Burnez leads the family business; her sister Claire has worked at the house since 2022.
