Redbreast 21 brings together Single Pot Still whiskeys made from malted and unmalted barley. They are triple-distilled in copper pot stills at Midleton and mature for at least 21 years in first-fill American bourbon barrels and Spanish Oloroso sherry butts. Some of the whiskeys selected by Master Blender Billy Leighton are up to 25 years old.

Introduced in 2013, this bottling combines the influence of both cask types. Tropical fruit, including mango, joins dried fruit and nuts, while vanilla, spice and toasted oak add to the profile. The whiskey is bottled at 46% and comes in gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose offers fresh tropical fruit, nuts and rich dried-fruit notes.
• Palate: Soft vanilla, toasted oak and a sweet, nutty sherry note appear on the palate, followed by a little spice. Fleshy fruit and a silky texture round out the impression.
• Finish: Oak and spice linger through the very long finish, followed by barley and dried fruit.

Distillery/Bottler:

Redbreast is made at Midleton Distillery in Ireland’s County Cork. The distillery produces its Single Pot Still whiskeys from malted and unmalted barley; the whiskey then matures in bourbon and sherry casks. Irish Distillers Limited manages the Redbreast brand and is responsible for this official bottling.

The Redbreast name dates back to 1912. Irish Distillers acquired the brand in 1986 and relaunched it in 1991 using whiskey matured in bourbon and sherry casks at Midleton. The 21-year-old expression continues this cask tradition with substantially longer maturation.
