Remedy Pineapple combines a blend of Caribbean rums with pineapple essence. The rums come from Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados and the Dominican Republic. The added fruit shapes this golden spirit, giving the rum base a distinct pineapple flavour.

The rum base is made from molasses. Remedy Pineapple has an alcohol content of 40% and comes in a bottle containing 0.7 litres. It can be enjoyed neat or over ice and also works well in fruity cocktails. In the Tropical Remedy, for example, it is combined with lime juice, mango juice and mint.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose is sweet and warm. Pineapple and mango lead the fruit notes, complemented by ripe oranges, sweet berries and vanilla.
• Palate: On the palate, Remedy Pineapple opens boldly with pronounced sweetness, which then eases slightly. Pineapple, mango, orange and berries reappear in the flavour. Gentle spice and subtle notes of caramel, vanilla and oak spice complement the fruit. The mouthfeel is warm, without a harsh alcoholic edge.
• Finish: The finish is long, with a delicate vanilla note.

Distillery/Bottler:

Remedy is a proprietary brand of Sierra Madre GmbH. Its range includes rum creations with different flavourings: while Remedy Spiced Rum is enhanced with vanilla, orange peel and cinnamon, the Pineapple version gets its fruity character from pineapple essence.

The brand's legend takes us to New York during Prohibition. According to the story, Frank M. Farrington developed a spiced rum in his drugstore that was served in the city's hidden bars during the 1920s. The design of today's bottle also draws on this tale: its shape recalls an apothecary bottle.
