Saburomaru SAB. Night Black - Smoky Blended Whisky - Extra Selected

Volume: 0.7 litres | Alcohol content: 46% | Chill filtration: No | Colouring: No

Special Features:

SAB. Night Black is part of SAB, the smoky blended whisky range introduced by Saburomaru in December 2024. The bottling combines malt and grain and is offered at 46% in a 0.7-litre bottle. It is non-chill-filtered and contains no added colouring.

The design evokes Tonami’s night landscape, with mountains and trees appearing as dark silhouettes beneath the moon and stars. Burning wood smoke, black pepper spice, ash, bitterness, wood and earthy peat shape the profile.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals burning wood smoke, fresh woody notes and black pepper.
• Palate: The whisky is smooth on the palate, combining bitterness, pepper, ash, wood and earthy peat.
• Finish: The finish remains smoky.

Distillery/Bottler:

Night Black is an official bottling in the SAB range from Saburomaru Distillery in Tonami, which is operated by Wakatsuru Shuzo. The series launched on 12 December 2024 with Night Black and Sunset Red, two smoky blended whiskies with distinct profiles.

Wakatsuru Shuzo’s history dates back to 1862. The company has produced whisky since 1952; traditionally, it brewed sake in winter and distilled whisky in summer. Following an extensive renovation, a new chapter began for Saburomaru Distillery in 2017.
