Savanna 5 y.o. Traditionnel
Special features: This noble rum from the renowned Savanna distillery on La Réunion aged for five years in former Cognac barrels made of French oak. The combination of traditional Rhum Agricole and Grand Arôme Rum gives it a complex aroma. Free from additives and not chill-filtered, it presents itself in its purest form. In 2020, it was awarded Rum of the Year at Meininger's International Spirits Award ISW.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: Invitingly fruity with aromas of mango, pineapple, and passion fruit, accompanied by almonds and marzipan. After swirling, notes of Baba-au-Rhum cake and brioche unfold.
Palate: Soft and tropical-fruity, followed by a hint of anise and mild spices like saffron and curry that provide structure.
Finish: Long and warm, with a balanced interplay between fruitiness and spice notes.
Distillery/Bottler: The Savanna distillery is located at the foot of the Piton de la Fournaise volcano on La Réunion. Rum has been handcrafted here since the 19th century. Under the leadership of Émile Hugot, known as "Monsieur Sucre," the distillery was further developed in the 1950s with extensive sugar expertise. Savanna is one of the few distilleries worldwide that produces both Rhum Agricole and Grand Arôme Rum.
