Special features: This single malt comes from the micro-distillery Smögen, which is pioneering new paths with a one-man operation and its own barley production. The 8-year-old bottling “Askeim” is based on the rare, lightly peated barley variety Golden Promise, which matured in small first fill bourbon quarter casks. Smögen consciously relies on traditional, characterful grain varieties to promote complex and intense aromas – an exciting approach away from the mainstream.
