Smokehead 15 y.o. - Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Special features: This limited release with 15 years of aging expands the well-known Smokehead range with a matured, more complex character. The combination of intense peat notes with selected citrus and herbal nuances makes this Islay Malt a distinctive representative of its kind.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: Dense and oily with a phenolic, salty presence. Pickled lemon and mineral nuances lead to grilled fish as well as herbs like rosemary and thyme, embedded in campfire smoke.
Palate: Ash and salt continue, followed by sweet citrus fruits, fine vanilla ice cream, and barley, harmoniously intertwined with earthy peat that shapes the flavor.
Finish: A long, smoky aftertaste with notes of lemon peel and sea spray rounds off the impression.
Distillery/Bottler: Behind Smokehead is Ian Macleod Distillers Ltd, a traditional independent bottler from Scotland. The exact origin of the Islay distillery remains anonymous, which is common for many Smokehead releases. Ian Macleod values characterful, high-quality single malts with a distinctive profile, with Smokehead specifically appealing to lovers of intense smoky whiskies.
