Smokehead High Voltage in GP

Volume: 0.7 litres | Alcohol content: 58% | Chill filtration: No | Colouring: Yes

Special Features:

Smokehead High Voltage is the particularly intense, 58% addition to the Smokehead range. This Islay single malt was launched in 2018 alongside Smokehead Original at 43%. The 0.7-litre bottle comes in gift packaging; the whisky is not chill-filtered and contains colouring.

Intense peat and smoke define its character, while sea air, oats, vanilla, toffee and a spicy touch of ginger provide contrast. On the palate, the initially almost oily texture develops into a softer, creamier mouthfeel, with nutty, salty and citrus notes complementing the smoke. Sweetness, pepper and a piquant salty note accompany the slowly fading smoke in the finish.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose combines intense peat and smoke with sea air, oats, distinct vanilla, toffee and spicy ginger. The high alcohol strength also creates a slight tingling sensation in the nose.
• Palate: Powerful alcohol and dense smoke emerge first on the palate. The texture feels almost oily before becoming softer and creamier, accompanied by nutty, salty and citrus notes.
• Finish: In the finish, sweetness and pepper mingle with the slowly fading smoke before a piquant salty note remains. The mouthfeel is tingling and almost numbing.

Distillery/Bottler:

Smokehead is part of the portfolio of Ian Macleod Distillers Limited, an independent Scottish family business. The company launched High Voltage in 2018 as a new expression in the peated Smokehead range, while also refreshing its design with a more prominent skull logo. The Islay distillery that produces this single malt is not disclosed.
