Smokehead Sherry Cask Blast

Volume: 0.7 litres | Alcohol content: 48% | Chill filtration: No | Colouring: Yes

Special Features:

A finish in Oloroso sherry casks brings a sweet, fruity and spicy contrast to the powerful Islay peat. Before that, the single malt matures in bourbon and sherry casks. Sherry Cask Blast continues the style of Sherry Bomb, introduced in 2018, under a new name; no age is stated for this release.

The whisky is distilled twice, bottled at 48% and not chill-filtered. It comes in a tube and contains colouring. Alongside smoke and sherry, vanilla, toffee, grilled banana, raisins, other dried fruits and salty maritime notes shape its character.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, medicinal peat and smoke meet spicy oak and creamy vanilla custard. A light salty sea note complements the sweeter aromas.
• Palate: On the palate, the peat smoke feels oily and full-bodied. Grilled banana, raisins and other dried fruits meet campfire smoke and warm spices.
• Finish: Peat returns in the long finish. Sherry-influenced oak and pronounced sweetness give way to a salty note, while the warmth lingers.

Distillery/Bottler:

The Islay distillery remains unnamed. Ian Macleod Distillers owns the Smokehead brand and bottles the single malt as an independent bottler. The Scottish family company has a history dating back to 1933. With Sherry Cask Blast, it pairs pronounced peat smoke with the influence of Oloroso casks within the Smokehead range.
