Smokin Blended Scotch

Volume: 0.7 litres | Alcohol content: 40% | Chill filtration: Yes | Colouring: Yes

Special Features:

For Smokin’, Duncan Taylor combines peated malt whiskies from different regions of Scotland with grain whisky in small batches. Bourbon casks contribute to the blend’s soft toffee and vanilla notes. Smoke takes centre stage without obscuring the sweet and savoury flavours.

Nicknamed “The Gentleman's Dram”, this bottling evokes the boldly smoky blends of earlier times with its pronounced peat character. Alongside its creamy sweetness are barbecue spice, pepper and a maritime nuance.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, peat smoke and wood smoke mingle with savoury barbecue notes and caramelised sugar. Citrus, mocha with vanilla cream and a hint of damp seaweed emerge behind them.
• Palate: The whisky feels creamy and sweet on the palate, with a trace of ashy smoke alongside milk caramel, chocolate and vanilla. Salted butter, salty lemon and a nutty texture meet black pepper.
• Finish: The long finish turns slightly dry and spicy after the sweetness, with clove and cinnamon. The peat smoke fades like dying embers, leaving barbecue notes and pepper behind.

Distillery/Bottler:

Duncan Taylor Scotch Whisky Limited owns the Smokin’ brand; Duncan Taylor & Co. Ltd. bottles the blend. Duncan Taylor began as a cask merchant in Glasgow in 1938. Today, it has cask warehouses, a cooperage and its own bottling facility at its headquarters in Huntly, Aberdeenshire. For Smokin’, it draws on smoky whiskies from several Scottish regions rather than a single distillery.
