Special Features:

Smoking Furnace Batch 2 combines heavily peated malt whisky with grain whisky. After blending, the whisky was finished for twelve months in STR casks. For these casks, the oak is shaved, toasted and heavily re-charred. The reactivated casks add a sweet dimension to the powerful peat smoke. The blend is bottled at 46% ABV without added colouring or chill filtration.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, intense peat smoke combines with honey and vanilla.
• Palate: On the palate, earthy notes and leather meet spicy cinnamon, while the intense smoke remains present throughout.
• Finish: The finish is long, leaving a complex smoky-sweet echo with delicate fruit accents.

Claxton's created Smoking Furnace Batch 2 from heavily peated malt whisky and grain whisky, then bottled the blend as an independent bottler.

At Dalswinton Bond in Dumfries and Galloway, Claxton's uses restored stone and grain warehouses, some of which date from the 19th century. The site provides traditional dunnage warehouses and modern racked warehouses for short- and long-term maturation. The company sources casks in a range of shapes and sizes from specialist producers.
