Special Features:

The full 17-year maturation in first-fill Oloroso sherry butts gives this bottling its pronounced sherry character. These butts had previously held Oloroso and were subsequently filled with whisky for the first time, allowing them to influence the single malt particularly strongly.

The single malt was distilled in 2008 and bottled in 2026 as 100 Proof Exceptional Cask Edition #16. On the historic British proof scale, its 57.1% corresponds exactly to 100 proof. The whisky is neither chill-filtered nor coloured.

Toffee and polished wood complement the dark dried fruit, roasted nuts and chocolate notes, creating a rich profile shaped by Oloroso sherry.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, roasted walnuts and hazelnuts meet raisins, figs and dates. Orange marmalade, dark chocolate, cinnamon, clove and old oak add depth to the dark, spicy aroma.
• Palate: The whisky is velvety and full-bodied on the palate. Fruitcake, dark sugar syrup, plum compote, bittersweet chocolate and espresso combine with roasted nuts, spicy oak, ginger, tobacco and sweet sherry spices.
• Finish: The finish is long and warming, with lingering dark chocolate, roasted nuts, sweet dried fruit, cocoa, leather, old oak and delicate spice.

Distillery/Bottler:

Signatory Vintage is an independent Scottish whisky bottler. Andrew Symington and his brother founded the company in 1988; since 2007, it has operated on the grounds of Edradour Distillery in Pitlochry.

The specific distillery behind this single malt is not disclosed; Signatory Vintage releases the bottling under the name Speyside (M).
