St. Kilian 2018-2021/2025 Signature Edition Seventeen - Ex-Rum Casks
Special features: This limited release combines the essence of the Caribbean with the precision of German distilling art. The single malt whisky was made from 100% peat-smoked malted barley (80 ppm) from the Scottish Highlands and was double distilled in traditional copper pot stills. The maturation took place in a careful combination of ex-rum casks from Barbados (10%), Jamaica (46%), Mexico (17%), and Rhum Agricole casks from Martinique (27%). This unique cask selection gives the whisky complex aromas and a tropical-smoky depth. The edition is limited to 4,398 bottles of 0.5 liters and was not chill-filtered and bottled without coloring.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Elegant peat smoke envelops tropical fruits such as ripe apricot, sweet pineapple, juicy peach, and a hint of banana. Creamy vanilla, spicy oak, and fine ash notes harmoniously complement the bouquet.
- Palate: The tropical-fruity sweetness of apricot, pineapple, and peach combines with warming oak spice and a hint of black pepper. Vanilla cream, fine toffee, and delicate peat smoke round off the multi-layered tasting experience.
- Finish: Velvety fruit jam, sweet vanilla, and subtly dry oak notes linger long on the palate and fade with an elegant hint of ashy smoke.
