St. Kilian PEATED - rich & smoky
Special features: The St. Kilian PEATED - rich & smoky is a German single malt whisky produced by St. Kilian Distillers GmbH in Lower Franconia. This distillery has been active since 2012 and follows traditional Scottish methods. For this bottling, heavily peated barley malt from the Scottish Highlands is used, which has a phenol content of 54 ppm. The whisky matures 70% in former bourbon casks and 30% in Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks. Furthermore, the whisky is bottled without chill filtration.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: The nose is smoky, fruity, and pleasantly spicy-mild.
- Palate: On the palate, the whisky presents itself as full-bodied sweet and fruit-forward, with facets of vanilla, apricots, and pears.
- Finish: The finish is characterized by creamy toffee notes and delicate hints of peat smoke.
Distillery/Bottler: St. Kilian Distillers GmbH is an innovative distillery in Germany that specializes in the production of high-quality single malts. The distillery uses original Scottish copper pot stills and places great importance on traditional manufacturing processes. The combination of bourbon and sherry casks in the maturation process provides diverse aroma profiles and expression in their whiskies. This bottling reflects the distillery's commitment to quality and craftsmanship.
