Special Features:

Stork Club uses only German rye from Brandenburg for this Straight Rye Whiskey. The grain is milled in the distillery’s own hammer mill in Schlepzig; the resulting mash is fermented and then distilled twice.

The whiskey matures in first-fill American oak casks and German Napoleon oak casks. These casks are made especially for the distillery and toasted to different levels.

The bottle contains 0.7 litres of whiskey at 45%. Its aromatic spectrum ranges from caramel and spices to dark chocolate, a hint of espresso and the peppery rye note typical of the grain.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals freshly baked rye bread, toasted almonds and sweet vanilla.
• Palate: On the palate, caramel and spices combine with dark chocolate, a hint of espresso and peppery rye notes.
• Finish: The finish is oily, combining citrus notes with dark chocolate.

Distillery/Bottler:

The Stork Club distillery is located in Schlepzig in the Spreewald, about 60 kilometres south of Berlin. Whiskey has been distilled and matured at the site since 2004. Steffen Lohr, Sebastian Brack and Bastian Heuser took over the distillery at the end of 2016 and refocused it on rye whiskey; Spreewood Distillers GmbH is the producer and bottler.

The regional rye is milled on site, and the resulting mash ferments for around five days. It then undergoes two distillation runs in copper hybrid stills: first in the pot-still section and then through a five-plate Aromator. Maturation and marrying also take place on site, while bottling and labelling are largely carried out there by hand.
