A Glasgow Dram brings together its origins at Strathclyde Distillery and 36 years of cask maturation. Thompson Bros. bottled this Single Grain Scotch Whisky at 41%. The yellow historical transport map on the label reflects its connection to Glasgow, depicting the city's tram and bus network of the time.

The whisky is bottled in a 0.7-litre bottle without chill filtration or added colouring. Its amber hue has therefore developed naturally. Fruity and pastry-like impressions sit alongside herbs and toasted coconut; the dark sweetness of the finish recalls mature rum.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose recalls deeply toasted banana bread, vanilla pods and Linzer pastries. Gentle citrus notes and pome fruit complement these aromas, along with a wine-like impression of Italian Gewürztraminer.
• Palate: The palate reveals rich notes of plum syrup and peach liqueur, accompanied by delicate hints of herbal tea and camphor. A touch of sawdust and toasted coconut chips follows, then sweet breakfast cereal.
• Finish: The dark sweetness of molasses lingers through the long finish. The aftertaste evolves into an impression reminiscent of Cuban rum.

Distillery/Bottler:

Strathclyde is located in Glasgow and was founded in 1927 by the Scottish Grain Distillery Co. Ltd. The site later also housed the Kinclaith malt distillery. It operated from 1957 to 1975 before making way for an expansion of the grain distillery. The whisky for A Glasgow Dram comes from Strathclyde.

Thompson Bros. is run by brothers Phil and Simon Thompson from Dornoch. Their work at the Dornoch Castle Hotel whisky bar led them to start producing their own whisky in 2017, following a crowdfunding campaign. While their own spirits matured, they built up their independent bottling business. Today, under the Thompson Bros. name, they select single casks and small batches, give whisky further maturation and bottle it at their warehouse on Station Road. They do not use chill filtration or added colouring in their bottlings.
