This Strathmill was distilled in 2011 and bottled by Murray McDavid in spring 2023 after eleven years. Following maturation in bourbon hogsheads, the whisky was finished for two years in first-fill Tokaji wine casks. This limited Benchmark release comprises 1,436 bottles.

The sensory profile combines sweet orange, floral notes and honey with tropical fruit and buttery malt. Citrus oils, herbs and sweetness define the finish.

The whisky is bottled at 46% in a 0.7-litre bottle with gift packaging. It is non-chill-filtered and contains no added colouring.

Distillery/Bottler:

Strathmill traces its roots to a grain mill that was converted into a distillery during the whisky boom of the 1890s. With this release, Murray McDavid presented a Strathmill under its own name for the first time.

Independent bottler Murray McDavid was founded in 1994 by wine merchants Mark Reynier and Simon Coughlin together with Gordon Wright of Springbank. The company now operates from Coleburn Distillery in Speyside. Its Benchmark range forms the core of the portfolio, focusing on mature single malts and cask maturation. For secondary maturation, the team sources freshly emptied casks from wine producers, among others, and monitors their influence on the whisky in the warehouses at Coleburn.
