Volume: 0.7 litres | Alcohol content: 58.4% | Chill filtration: No | Colouring: No
Special Features:
A finish in a heavily charred American Oak Hogshead shapes this long-matured Talisker. Distilled in 1993, the single malt initially matured in American oak previously used for whisky maturation before moving to the heavily charred Hogshead for its final maturation phase. After a total of 32 years, it was released in 2026 as an official single-cask bottling to mark Kirsch Import's 50th anniversary. The release comprises 156 bottles.
Alongside its maritime spice, the whisky displays pronounced fruitiness with peach and ripe pear. Warm spices, liquorice, herbs, dried fruit and hints of grape seeds add to its character, while smoke remains a subtle accompanying note. The finish also contributes a delicate roasted spiciness.
The whisky was bottled at its natural cask strength of 58.4%, without chill filtration or added colouring. The bottle contains 0.7 litres and comes in a dark blue premium box with gold details and a depiction of the Isle of Skye. Some time in the glass and a few drops of water can help reveal its different aromatic facets.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: On the nose, salty sea air and ripe fruit mingle with smoke carrying a distinct herbal note.
- Palate: On the palate, distinctive peppery spice sits alongside creamy dark caramel and soft vanilla. The whisky is powerful, with a delicate roasted spiciness.
- Finish: The long finish combines salty and sweet impressions with maritime notes and lingering smoke.
Distillery/Bottler:
Talisker is located in Carbost on the shores of Loch Harport, on Scotland's Isle of Skye. Hugh and Kenneth MacAskill founded the distillery in 1830; it is the island's oldest working distillery. Maritime notes, smoke and distinctive peppery spice are characteristic of its style. Production uses copper pot stills, and coastal maturation is part of the distillery's approach.
Kirsch Import received this special official Talisker bottling for its 50th anniversary. The anniversary edition centres on a mature single malt from the distillery, with the heavily charred American oak finish adding to its maritime, peppery style.
