Special Features:

The eighth release in the Batch Strength series combines full maturation in selected Oloroso sherry casks with a bottling strength of 55.8%. This brings out the powerful side of the Speyside single malt.

This 0.7-litre distillery bottling is non-chill-filtered, contains no added colouring and comes in a gift box.

Roasted nuts complement a character of warm oak, citrus fruit, honeycomb and creamy vanilla. Summer berries, oak spice and ripe figs lead into a juicy finish.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Layers of warm oak open the nose, followed by honeycomb and vanilla cream.
• Palate: Summer berries with a tart edge define the palate; a little water brings out candied lemon peel and oak spice.
• Finish: The finish begins with a mouthwatering oak note, followed by ripe figs and lemon zest as it fades.

Distillery/Bottler:

Tamdhu was founded on the Spey in 1897 and built to plans by distillery architect Charles C. Doig. After the distillery closed in 2010, it resumed production under Ian Macleod Distillers in January 2012. The family-owned company owns and operates Tamdhu.

At Tamdhu, cask preparation begins with the wood itself: staves of European and American oak are air-dried for at least two years. The casks made from them are then seasoned with Oloroso in Jerez for a further two years before being transported intact to Speyside. This preparation also provides the foundation for Batch 008’s full maturation in Oloroso sherry casks.
