Tamnavulin Double Cask
Special features: The Tamnavulin Double Cask is a single malt whisky from the renowned Speyside region of Scotland. After a comprehensive renovation, the Tamnavulin Distillery reopened in 2007 and presented this whisky in 2018 as the first official release after more than two decades. The Double Cask initially matures in American oak barrels and then receives a finish in sherry casks, resulting in a balanced and complex flavor.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Sweet aromas of apple, toffee, and honey, accompanied by a hint of marzipan and mildly tart jam.
- Palate: Fresh and smooth with tropical fruity notes of pear, peach, and pineapple.
- Finish: Medium-long and well-balanced with fruit, sherry, and spicy-sweet wood notes.
Distillery/Bottler: The Tamnavulin Distillery was founded in 1966 in the Scottish village of Tomnavulin. After a closure in 1995 and a reopening in 2007, the distillery is now producing high-quality single malts again. The name "Tamnavulin" means "Mill on the Hill" in Gaelic and refers to the historic mill that still stands on the distillery grounds.
