Special Features:

A 27-month finish in a First Fill Oloroso Sherry Barrique gave this Teaninich its combination of citrus freshness, nutty sweetness and spicy oak. The whisky was distilled on 11 May 2010 and, after its initial maturation, spent a further period in barrique 708907/2010. On 14 March 2025, Brave New Spirits bottled the 14-year-old single malt as a Golden Proof release: 305 bottles at 51.2%, without chill filtration or added colouring.

Candied ginger and grapefruit balance the sweet impressions of walnut cake, butterscotch and toffee. Leather and oak spice lend the Oloroso influence a more savoury side; citrus peel, pastry and caramel emerge in the finish.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Candied ginger and ripe grapefruit open the nose. Walnut cake and a subtle leather note follow, with butterscotch and oak spice in the background.
• Palate: The whisky feels rounded and intense on the palate. Fruity freshness and spice accompany toasted walnuts and sweet toffee, while sherry notes add depth to the flavour.
• Finish: The long finish brings citrus peel, pastry and gentle leathery spice. A creamy caramel note rounds it off.

Distillery/Bottler:

Teaninich Distillery was founded by Captain Hugh Munro in 1817 near Alness in the Highlands. It uses a filter press instead of a conventional mash tun. Much of its malt goes into blended Scotch; this single-cask bottling presents it as a single malt in its own right.

For its Cask Masters range, Brave New Spirits selects individual casks for their character and maturation, then bottles the whisky independently of the distillery. Labels inspired by Japanese kirigami paper art are part of the range’s design. Within Cask Masters, Golden Proof denotes single-cask whiskies bottled at around 50% ABV.
