Maturation predominantly in ex-bourbon casks gives this Teaninich its vanilla and toffee notes. The Single Malt spent five years in a traditional dunnage warehouse on the grounds of Coleburn Distillery. It is bottled for the Glen Cooper range at 46% without chill filtration. The bottle contains 0.7 litres and is offered without gift packaging.

Alongside its fruitiness, the whisky displays floral and green notes. Apple pastries and vanilla custard sit alongside green tea, anise and freshly cut grass, with a subtle hint of peat smoke complementing these aromas. This interplay brings together the sweet cask influences and the grassy character of the spirit.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, sugared citrus peels and juicy apricot combine with a hint of sponge cake.
• Palate: The palate offers pronounced malt notes, almonds and green apple. Chopped kitchen herbs and black pepper build gradually.
• Finish: Chocolate peanuts, honey and lemon linger on the finish. A malty note accompanies the chocolate.

Distillery/Bottler:

Teaninich is situated in Alness in the northern Highlands. Captain Hugh Munro founded the distillery on his estate in 1817. Since 2000, its production process has used a combination of a hammer mill and a mash filter: this replaces the conventional mash tun system and produces particularly clear wort. The distillery mainly produces malt whisky for blends; its Single Malts also offer a chance to experience its grassy, green-tea-like house style on its own.

Glen Cooper is a whisky range from Aceo Spirits, backed by Aceo Limited. The range showcases Scotland's regional Single Malt styles, with this Teaninich representing the Highlands. Aceo operates cask warehouses at the Coleburn site in Speyside and offers services including cask sampling, checks of fill levels and alcoholic strength, and transferring whisky into other casks. Bottling and labelling are also among the company's services.
