Special features: The Teeling Blackpitts Peated Single Malt is an Irish whiskey made from malt dried over peat smoke. This process gives it a distinctive smoky aroma, supported by triple distillation. The aging takes place in ex-bourbon and ex-Sauternes wine casks, which gives the whiskey a complex flavor profile. The distillery, founded in 2015 in Dublin, produces up to 500,000 liters of whiskey annually and brings a characterful and modern bottling to the market with the Blackpitts.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: The nose reveals aromas of BBQ smoke, complemented by cloves, butterscotch, and orange peel.
- Palate: On the palate, there is a mix of applewood smoke, honey, spices, cooked pears, and grilled pineapple.
- Finish: The finish is characterized by salty caramel, wood, and hearty smoke.
Distillery/Bottler: The Teeling Distillery is the first new distillery in Dublin in over 125 years and relies on traditional Irish triple distillation. Three pot stills of different capacities are used. Teeling does not use chill filtration to preserve the natural character of the whiskey. This can also be experienced in the Blackpitts Peated Single Malt.
