PyyGin combines classic gin botanicals with birch leaves, lingonberries and Amarillo hops. The botanicals are incorporated through extraction, and the gin is distilled in Teerenpeli's original copper stills in Lahti. The aroma hops come from the company's own brewery stocks, linking its two branches of production.

The recipe contains ten botanicals: juniper berries, lingonberries, birch leaves, Amarillo hops, lemon peel, coriander seeds, angelica, cumin, liquorice root and cinnamon. In the glass, the gin is smooth, clean and full-bodied. Citrus, herbs and juniper shape its flavour, complemented by floral notes.

PyyGin was launched in September 2016. Its name derives from the surname of Teerenpeli's owner, Pyysing. This bottling contains 0.5 litres at 45% alcohol.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, fresh citrus notes meet gentle juniper, accompanied by a scent reminiscent of a birch forest after rain.
• Palate: The gin is smooth and full-bodied on the palate. Juniper combines with citrus, herbs and gentle spice.
• Finish: Citrus notes linger on the finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

Teerenpeli is a family-run distillery in Lahti, Finland, founded by Anssi Pyysing in 2002. The original distillery is located in the Taivaanranta restaurant in the city centre. It houses traditional pot stills made in Scotland. Alongside whisky production, this site also allows the development of other spirits.

In 2015, Teerenpeli opened a larger distillery at its own brewery site in Lotila, outside the city centre. PyyGin illustrates the close collaboration between brewery and distillery particularly well: its recipe uses Amarillo aroma hops from the brewery's stocks, while distillation takes place in the original copper stills.
