Special Features:

For The Black Pearl, Hammerschmiede combines different varieties of rum and rhum with vanilla and sugar. Natural vanilla macerate and brown cane sugar complement the base spirits. The sugar content is 200 grams per litre. A spicy opening gives way to fruity sweetness.

The liqueur has an alcohol content of 28% and comes in a clear, ribbed bottle containing 0.7 litres. The label pairs the name The Black Pearl with a historical seafaring figure.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, brown sugar and sweet vanilla combine with a subtle trace of spice.
• Palate: The liqueur is powerful and distinctly sweet on the palate. Sugar cane, fruit and spices accompany the defining vanilla note.
• Finish: The long finish remains sweet and spicy, with oak spice and Bourbon vanilla.

Distillery/Bottler:

Hercynian Distilling Co. / Hammerschmiede is based in Walkenried in the Harz. Its spirits production began in 1985 with liqueurs, followed later by fruit and grain spirits. The house's liqueur-making tradition thus predates its whisky production, which began in 2002.

Alongside liqueurs, the range now includes fruit brandies and fruit spirits, MONOKEL DRY GIN and several Harz single malt brands. One of these is ELSBURN, formerly THE GLEN ELS. Making spirits by hand has been part of the distillery's approach since its beginnings.
