The Deveron 12 matures for twelve years in oak casks. This Highland single malt from Macduff Distillery belongs to The Deveron range, introduced in 2015, and is offered at 40% in a 0.7-litre bottle without gift packaging.

Light orchard fruit shapes its character: baked and crisp red apple sit alongside lemon zest, creamy vanilla, malt and delicate spice. Toasted grain and creamy oak add depth to the fruit profile. The distillery’s location near the mouth of the River Deveron on the North Sea is part of the brand’s story; a slight salty note also appears in the tasting.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals malt, apple and pale blossoms with a hint of oak. A delicate salty note accompanies the fresh fruit.
• Palate: On the palate, baked apple and toasted nuts mingle with creamy malt and soft oak. Delicate spice and a light salty accent accompany the fruit.
• Finish: The medium-length finish combines soft apple fruit with nuts and oak. It turns dry and slightly chalky, with a faint smoky note lingering.

Distillery/Bottler:

Macduff Distillery stands on the River Deveron near the North Sea and produces the single malt for The Deveron. The distillery began operating in 1960. Its five small copper stills and unusual horizontal condensers are designed to produce a light, fruity spirit.

Four Scottish entrepreneurs had Macduff built with a gravity-fed production flow. John Dewar & Sons launched The Deveron range in 2015; the company belongs to Bacardi Limited.
