This single-cask Glen Moray matured for 14 years in a Bourbon Barrel. House of MacDuff selected the whisky from cask CM304 for The Golden Cask range and had it bottled at its natural cask strength of 54.1%. It is neither coloured nor chill-filtered.

The whisky was distilled on 10 October 2008 and bottled on 6 April 2023. The cask yielded 220 bottles.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, ripe pears and golden apples mingle with honeycomb. Soft vanilla notes and a hint of almond pastries add to the aromas.
• Palate: The whisky feels smooth and lively on the palate. Creamy toffee, orchard fruit and lemon cake are accompanied by gentle oak spice and a subtle coconut note.
• Finish: The clean finish lingers with vanilla fudge and barley sugar sweets. A delicate hint of citrus peel complements the finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

Glen Moray is in Elgin, beside the River Lossie in Scotland’s Speyside region. Whisky has been distilled on the site of the former Elgin West Brewery since 1897. Early records already document maturation in different types of cask, and this willingness to experiment continues to shape the distillery today.

Glen Moray uses malted barley and water from the Lossie to make its whisky. Fermentation produces fruity and floral aroma compounds as well as alcohol. After two distillations in copper pot stills, the heart of the spirit is used for cask maturation. The heads and tails are collected separately and distilled again.

House of MacDuff is the independent bottler behind The Golden Cask. Individual casks are selected for the range to express the character of their distillery and region of origin. Rather than chill filtration, a coarse filter is used to remove cask particles. Each bottling is limited to the yield of its respective cask.
