Special features: The Islay Rum Peat Spiced comes from the Islay Rum Company, the first rum distillery on the Scottish island of Islay. It was founded in January 2022 in the Old Lemonade Factory in Port Ellen and follows Caribbean methods in rum production. The rum is made with a base of smoked orange, ginger, and cocoa nibs, giving it an intensely smoky flavor profile. With an alcohol content of 40%, this spiced rum is clearly part of the brand's innovative product range.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, the Islay Rum Peat Spiced presents smoky orange peel, accompanied by candied ginger and fine notes of licorice and anise.
• Palate: On the palate, juicy orange, rich dark chocolate, subtle vanilla, as well as star anise and allspice unfold.
• Finish: The finish recalls a smoky, liquid Christmas cake with a hint of dark chocolate – warm, spicy, and long-lasting.

Distillery/Bottler: The Islay Rum Company is based in the Old Lemonade Factory in Port Ellen under the management of Distillery Manager Ben Inglis. Production takes place in a custom copper pot still, allowing for a "triple distillation effect" that leads to particularly aromatic raw spirits. Fermentation lasts 168 hours and uses special yeast that adds complexity to the flavor profiles. The rum reflects the characteristic peatiness of the region through the use of ingredients smoked over peat fires.
