Special features: This Irish single malt was first matured for five years in first-fill ex-bourbon casks from the Great Northern Distillery and then given an unusual finish in a handcrafted virgin wood mulberry cask. The twelve-month maturation in the 50-liter cask produces a limited edition of just 90 bottles with a powerful 57.1% alcohol by volume. Part of a series with additional finishes made from apple, pear, cherry, and serviceberry wood, each impressively showcases a variety of wood aromas.

• Nose: walnut shell, old closet, tobacco, milk chocolate, sauna wood
• Palate: Vanilla chocolate pudding, nutty nuances, fresh tobacco, chocolate
• Finish: Dry, sweet with a mild nutty aftertaste

Distillery/Bottler: The Woodpecker & The Leprechaun is a young brand from independent bottler Sebastian Büssing, known for his work on The Spirits Alchemist and The Liquid Madness. For this project, he collaborated with Irish whiskey expert Neil Saad to present an innovative series of single malt whiskeys with exceptional virgin wood finishes. The barrels come from the Great Northern Distillery in Ireland, known for its modern approach to whiskey production.
