Special Features:

This miniature set brings together two different whisky styles and a gin from the same island distillery. It contains Tobermory 12 Year Old and Ledaig 10 Year Old, both at 46.3%, alongside Tobermory Hebridean Gin at 43.3%. Each of the three bottles contains 0.05 litres. The gift packaging depicts Tobermory's colourful houses.

The unpeated Tobermory 12 Year Old matures in American oak casks and combines fruit and spice with a subtle saltiness. Its counterpart is the peated Ledaig 10 Year Old, matured in bourbon casks. Both whiskies are bottled without colouring or chill filtration.

The production of Hebridean Gin also incorporates a small proportion of spirit from Tobermory's whisky stills. Its botanicals include juniper, tea, heather, elderflower and sweet orange peel. It adds a distinctive, citrus-led gin to the comparison of the two single malts.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: Tobermory 12 Year Old brings pronounced fruit notes of orange and other citrus fruits together with fresh floral nuances. Oak, vanilla and spice round out the aroma. Ledaig 10 Year Old has a sweet, salty and smoky nose. Subtle medicinal and tarry hints mingle with wax polish, mint chocolate and coastal floral notes. The peat and smoke are gentle on the nose. Fresh juniper shapes the nose of Hebridean Gin, with pine-like notes and a hint of resinous spice.
  • Palate: Tobermory 12 Year Old combines sweet orange and citrus fruit with creamy caramel and bold vanilla. Cinnamon and clove add spicy accents. On the palate, Ledaig 10 Year Old combines sweet and medicinal impressions with pepper, dried fruit and powerful peat smoke. Vanilla and a malty creaminess give it a velvety texture. Hebridean Gin offers a lively, fresh citrus note of orange peel on the palate.
  • Finish: Vanilla and spice linger for a long time in the finish of Tobermory 12 Year Old. Ledaig 10 Year Old finishes with white pepper, sweet liquorice and clove. A salty note persists. Hebridean Gin has a light, fragrant finish. Elderflower leaves a gently sweet, floral impression with a fresh note.

Distillery/Bottler:

Tobermory Distillery dates back to 1798 and stands in the harbour town of the same name on Scotland's Isle of Mull. It draws its water from the nearby Gearr Abhainn stream. Between 2017 and 2019, the distillery underwent extensive renovation and modernisation to improve sustainability and efficiency; it continues to produce in small batches.

The Tobermory name represents unpeated, fruit-led single malts, while Ledaig embodies the distillery's peated, smoky side. Master Blender Julieann Fernandez oversees the character of the whiskies. With its Mull-distilled Hebridean Gin, the distillery also uses its whisky spirit beyond traditional single malt production.
