Tomintoul 2009 - 14 y.o. - PX Quarter Cask Finish
Special features: This limited single malt whisky from the renowned Tomintoul Distillery in the Scottish Speyside was distilled in 2009 and aged for 14 years. After the initial maturation in American bourbon casks, it received a special finish in selected Pedro Ximénez sherry quarter casks, personally sourced from Spain by Master Distiller Robert Fleming. This special maturation gives the whisky an additional depth and complexity. Without the addition of coloring and without chill filtration, the whisky remains natural and authentic.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Deep and lush with aromas of chocolate cake, maple syrup, dried fruits, and cedar wood.
- Palate: Enjoyable layers of pecan pie with maple syrup, chocolate ganache, raisins, and roasted nuts, paired with ground coffee, tobacco, and baking spices.
- Finish: Long and warming, with impressions of tiramisu, dark chocolate, and Brazil nuts lingering on the palate.
Distillery/Bottler: The Tomintoul Distillery, founded in 1964, is located in the picturesque Cairngorms National Park in the Speyside region of Scotland. It is known for its smooth and accessible single malt whiskies. Under the guidance of Master Distiller Robert Fleming, the distillery has created whiskies with a malty-floral character for over two decades, which are both award-winning and affordable.
