Tomintoul 2009/2023 - 14 y.o. - Cognac Cask Finish (2009)

Special features: This limited edition of Tomintoul from the 2009 vintage matured for 14 years and was completed after the main maturation in ex-bourbon casks with a finish in cognac casks. A total of 8,082 bottles were produced, reflecting the traditional craftsmanship of the Speyside distillery.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: Sweet notes of almond pudding, baked apricots, vanilla, and cedar wood go hand in hand with dark chocolate and a hint of pink pepper.
  • Palate: Complex layers of ginger cookies, sandalwood, muscovado sugar, and white chocolate combine with hints of dark berries, plums, and fine baking spices.
  • Finish: Warming spices and roasted oak lead to essential aromas of vanilla pudding, milk chocolate, and roasted chestnuts.

Distillery/Bottler: Tomintoul is nestled in the picturesque Cairngorms National Park and has stood for particularly smooth and malty single malts since its founding in 1964. Under the guidance of Master Distiller Robert Fleming, who has been managing the stills for over 20 years, the distillery has developed a distinctive profile that appeals to both beginners and experienced connoisseurs. The combination of traditional production methods and innovative cask finishes has shaped Tomintoul's reputation as a source of accessible "gentle drams".
