Tomintoul Madeira Cask Finish
Special features: This single malt initially matured in ex-bourbon casks before being finished for two years in selected Madeira wine casks from Portugal. The Madeira Cask Finish gives the whisky a fascinating depth and fruity complexity, making it a successful representative of the Wood Finish series.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: Aromas of summer berries, spiced fruits, and ginger cookies, accompanied by orange chocolate and baking spices.
Palate: Multi-layered notes of juicy cantaloupe melon, blackberries, and candied fruit peels harmonize with hints of chocolate mousse, oat syrup pastries (flapjacks), and toasted oak.
Finish: A cozy aftertaste with cake spices, cocoa, ripe banana, vanilla panna cotta, and jam.
Distillery/Bottler: Tomintoul is located in the picturesque Cairngorms National Park in Speyside and is known for particularly smooth, malty-floral whiskies. Under the guidance of Master Distiller Robert Fleming, accessible and harmonious single malts are produced here that appeal to both whisky newcomers and connoisseurs. The distillery enjoys a good reputation for award-winning bottlings with an excellent price-performance ratio.
