Special Features:

Torabhaig Taigh takes its name from the Scottish Gaelic word for “house” and is the distillery’s first core expression. This lightly peated single malt matures in a carefully composed combination of first-fill bourbon casks, refill bourbon casks and selected Madeira casks.

The interplay of these casks creates balance, gentle sweetness and depth. First-fill bourbon supports notes of vanilla, sweet spices and honey, while the refill casks allow the distillery character to emerge more clearly. The Madeira casks contribute rounded fruit sweetness and warmth. The whisky is bottled at 46% without chill filtration or added colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, coastal embers and flinty smoke mingle with earthy woodland notes. Baked apple pie, maple syrup and raisin follow, accompanied by clove, cinnamon and a hint of cereal biscuits.
• Palate: On the palate, the whisky is light to medium-bodied, smooth, supple and gently oily. Soft smoke envelops vanilla cream, toasted almonds and sweet dried fruit.
• Finish: The finish is warm and lingering: toasted oak and a lively fir note give way to vanilla, red fruit, cinnamon and clove before soft smoke echoes for a long time.

Distillery/Bottler:

Torabhaig Distillery operates in a restored old farm building on the Isle of Skye. Custom-made copper stills and Douglas fir washbacks were installed there in 2016, and full production began in January 2017. The distillery seeks a finely balanced peat character that combines power with elegance and places particular emphasis on the interaction between spirit and cask. It produces the spirit for Taigh; the whisky matures in bourbon and Madeira casks before being bottled as the distillery’s first core expression.
