This 16-year-old Speyside single malt undergoes a double maturation that combines Tormore’s fruit-forward character with a carefully balanced sherry-cask influence. The whisky was initially matured in refill American and European oak casks. It was then transferred to various sherry casks: toasted American oak Cream Sherry casks and French and American oak Oloroso butts sourced from several bodegas and producers.

Only a small proportion of French oak Oloroso butts is used in the composition. These contribute darker, nutty, almost savoury notes and spices, while the American Cream Sherry casks add sweetness. The deliberately gentle influence of the wood leaves room for the distillery’s fruity character.

Spiced butter brioche leads into sticky dates, Demerara fudge and lemon oil. Blueberry jam and vanilla fudge deepen the creamy, full-bodied impression, while subtle nutty and oak notes complement the sherry-led interplay of aromas.

The whisky retains its natural colour and is bottled without chill filtration at 46.8% in 0.7-litre bottles.

• Nose: The nose reveals sticky dates, warm toffee and gentle vanilla.
• Palate: On the palate, creamy fudge, orange peel and spicy nutmeg combine in a rich, velvety impression.
• Finish: Roasted hazelnuts and a delicate sweet spice linger on the finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

Tormore Distillery was built in 1959 in Speyside’s Cromdale Hills and was designed from the outset to produce a fruity, elegant whisky. For decades, its spirit was used primarily in blends and was only occasionally bottled as a single malt.

Elixir Distillers acquired Tormore in 2022 and resumed production in January 2023 under Distillery Manager Polly Logan. The official 16-year-old bottling is part of the distillery’s new core range.
