Tullamore D.E.W. Special Reserve is a mature Irish blend with a high proportion of pot still and malt whiskey. It brings together three whiskey styles: pot still, malt and grain, each triple-distilled. The whiskeys mature for twelve to fifteen years in former bourbon and sherry casks, including casks previously used for Oloroso sherry.

Chocolate, dried fruit and nuts combine to create a pronounced praline character. Spice, vanilla and cinnamon complement the robust yet creamy body. The whiskey is smooth and full-bodied. It is bottled at 40% and comes in gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose opens with spice and red wine notes, followed by nutty aromas. A light woody note rounds out the aroma.
• Palate: On the palate, the whiskey is robust and creamy, with spice, an impression of linseed oil and pronounced chocolate. Dried fruit and nuts combine with the chocolate to create a praline note.
• Finish: The long, rich finish leaves lingering notes of citrus, chocolate, raisins and marzipan.

Distillery/Bottler:

Tullamore's whiskey history dates back to 1829. Daniel Edmund Williams started as a stable boy at the age of 15 and was running the distillery by 25; his initials still form the name D.E.W. Tullamore D.E.W. belongs to the family-owned company William Grant & Sons, which opened the new distillery in Tullamore in 2014. Today's facility in Clonminch brings milling, mashing, fermentation, distillation, maturation and bottling together at one site. The twelve-year-old Special Reserve is an official bottling of the brand.
