Turntable Spirits Track 8: Black Betty
Special features: Turntable Spirits Track 8: Black Betty is a blended Scotch whisky from Scotland that represents a combination of various single malts from Speyside and Islay. The marriage of the whiskies took place two years before bottling, followed by an over 20-month finish in Ruby Port hogsheads. This process integrates both fruity and smoky components into the flavor structure. Bottled in a gift packaging, the alcohol content is 52.5%.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: The nose presents ripe strawberries, dark berries, and sweet caramel, accompanied by the scent of roasted marshmallows. A note of ripe strawberry jam and fine caramel sweetness underscores the aroma.
- Palate: The palate surprises with citrus freshness and ginger, while fruity jam and a fine cigar note round out the body.
- Finish: The finish leaves a delicate coastal smoke, accompanied by nutty, slightly roasted hints.
Distillery/Bottler: Turntable Spirits is a blending house from Scotland, led by Aldo Neri as well as Gordon and Alain Stevenson, uniting various whiskies. For Black Betty, whiskies from Glenlossie, Balmenach, Caol Ila, and Glen Moray were used, among others. The omission of chill filtration and artificial colorings characterizes this bottling. The careful selection and marriage of the whiskies combine traditional craftsmanship with innovative techniques.
