Special Features:

Whole Lotta Rosé is a heavily peated Bunnahabhain single malt matured in first-fill red wine barriques throughout its seven years of ageing. Distilled in 2019, the whisky was bottled by Uncharted Whisky in March 2026 as release UC056 at a cask strength of 55%; the release comprises 644 bottles.

The full maturation in red wine barriques is not merely a brief finish: it contributes summer berries, richness and oak spice, while peat, malt and salty coastal air remain clearly recognisable. The casks also give the whisky its natural rosé hue. Pavlova, meringue and icing sugar provide a distinctly sweet counterpoint to smoke, salt and oak. The whisky has a natural colour and is not chill-filtered.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose combines sweet peat, pavlova and icing sugar with salty coastal air.
• Palate: On the palate, robust peat and malt meet pavlova, summer berries and salt.
• Finish: The finish is long and lingering. Sweet oak, smoke, berries and meringue remain present as the smoke becomes gentler without disappearing entirely.

Distillery/Bottler:

Bunnahabhain distilled the heavily peated Islay malt for this release in 2019. The distillery was founded in 1881 alongside the settlement on Islay’s remote north-eastern coast and began production in 1883.

Uncharted Whisky is an independent bottler based in Fintry and run by Jack Breslin and Dana de Vos. They personally select the spirits and casks, work by hand in very small batches and follow no fixed bottling schedule, instead bottling when they believe a cask is ready. For Whole Lotta Rosé, Uncharted Whisky selected and bottled the whisky that had matured entirely in red wine barriques.
