Special Features:

Violet Aperitif combines Pinot Noir grapes, grapefruit and rhubarb. The grapes provide fruity richness, while grapefruit adds citrus freshness and rhubarb offers a slightly tart counterpoint. Herbal notes, delicate floral nuances and fruity sweetness complement the combination. This violet-coloured liqueur contains quinine and colouring and is vegan.

The aperitif received 93 Falstaff points. The bottle contains 0.7 litres at 15% alcohol. To make a Violet Spritz, combine 0.06 litres of aperitif with 0.09 litres of Prosecco and a splash of mineral water in a wine glass filled with ice. Grapefruit and mint make suitable garnishes; alternatively, Violet can be served neat over ice or with tonic water.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Ripe grapes and grapefruit lead the nose. Subtle rhubarb notes and a delicate herbal nuance emerge behind them.
• Palate: On the palate, juicy grapes combine with rhubarb acidity and herbal spice. A light bitterness accompanies the fruit. The mouthfeel is silky, while the structure remains lean and well defined.
• Finish: Fruity notes and a delicate bitterness linger. The finish is dry and balanced.

Distillery/Bottler:

Samuel Neumann and Bianca Weninger developed the idea for Violet at Lake Constance. Their choice of ingredients links the region’s vineyards with a fruity, bittersweet aperitif profile. Violet initially found its place mainly in restaurants, bars and hotels around Lake Constance before the brand expanded into retail.

To bring their idea to life, the founders worked with the family-run Destille Kaltenthaler in Rhineland-Palatinate. The distillery supported recipe development, flavour balancing, production and bottling. The brand concept thus originated at Lake Constance, while a specialist distillery partner handled its technical implementation.
