West Cork Bourbon Cask 5 y.o. is a five-year-old blended Irish whiskey made from 75% grain whiskey and 25% malt whiskey. It matures in first-fill bourbon casks and combines a malt-forward character with bright fruit, lingering sweetness and delicate spice. The style is not smoky.

The whiskey is triple-distilled and bottled by West Cork Distillers. This compact official bottling contains 0.2 litres, has an alcohol content of 40%, is non-chill-filtered and contains colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, malt and malty sweetness combine with citrus fruit, green apple and a delicate hint of nutmeg. A touch of cracked pepper follows.
• Palate: The whiskey is smooth and malt-forward on the palate. Gentle vanilla and caramel are accompanied by light citrus, apple, nutmeg and lingering sweetness.
• Finish: Ripe apple remains present in the finish before a delicate nutmeg spice fades away.

Distillery/Bottler:

The story of West Cork Distillers began in 2003, when childhood friends John O’Connell, Ger McCarthy and Denis McCarthy founded the company. Its first spirits were produced using two small pot stills in a room behind Denis McCarthy’s house in Union Hall. As the company grew, it moved to Skibbereen in 2014.

Since 2020, West Cork Distillers has operated at its Marsh Road site in Skibbereen, where distillation, cask maturation and bottling are brought together. The Bourbon Cask is also produced, matured and bottled in Ireland by West Cork Distillers.
