Special features: This Irish single malt whisky from the West Cork Distillers' Maritime series is presented in a unique, hand-blown bottle that resembles traditional glass fishing nets. After aging in first-fill bourbon barrels, it receives a finish in virgin oak casks from Kelvin Cooperage, giving it a special depth. Additionally, it is neither chill-filtered nor colored.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Aromas of hay, oak chips, sawdust, and vanilla.
- Palate: Very light with a hint of fruitiness, with the main flavor being black pepper at the end.
- Finish: Smooth and spicy with a lingering pepper taste.
Distillery/Bottler: West Cork Distillers was founded in 2003 by childhood friends John O'Connell and Ger and Denis McCarthy. They started in a small room in Union Hall and have since developed into one of the largest Irish distilleries. Today, they produce a variety of whiskies, including the West Cork Maritime - Virgin Oak Cask.
