Westland Colere 2nd Edition American Single Malt Whiskey
Special features: The second edition of the Colere American Single Malt Whiskey from Westland Distillery focuses on the diversity of barley. For this limited edition, Talisman barley was used, a two-row winter barley that descends from the renowned Marris Otter. The maturation took place in used barrels – 42% second fill from ISC Cooper’s Reserve and 58% first fill from ex-bourbon barrels – to minimize the influence of oak and highlight the flavors of the barley.
Palate: Light brown sugar, dark chocolate with orange, mixed berry filling.
Finish: Lingering notes of dark chocolate and orange.
Distillery/Bottler: Westland Distillery was founded in 2010 in Seattle and has since established itself as a leading producer of American Single Malt Whiskey. The distillery places great emphasis on collaborating with local farmers and malts over 20 different varieties of barley to explore the diversity of flavors. In 2017, Westland was acquired by Remy-Cointreau but retained its independence in production.
