Mask of Death II belongs to the second batch of Brave New Spirits’ limited Whisky of Voodoo range. The ten-year-old single malt comes from the Speyside distillery Dailuaine, was matured in bourbon barrels and bottled at cask strength at 55%. It is non-chill-filtered and contains no added colouring.

The profile combines candied almonds with rose water, dried flowers and honey. Poppy seeds add an unusual accent to this distinctly floral and nutty aromatic character.

Distillery/Bottler:

Located in Speyside, Dailuaine traces its origins to William Mackenzie. By the end of the 19th century, the distillery was among the region’s largest and most advanced operations; during an extensive reconstruction, its kiln received the first steeply pitched pagoda roof in Scotland. Long fermentation, rapid distillation and comparatively limited copper interaction in the condensers contribute to a robust spirit character.

Founded in 2020, Brave New Spirits operates in Glasgow as an independent bottler and blender with its own bonded warehouse. Whisky of Voodoo is the company’s small-batch range: a selection panel chooses casks from Scottish distilleries to create individual batches. Mask of Death II applies this concept to ten-year-old Dailuaine matured in bourbon barrels.
