Special Features:

Twelve years of maturation in Thurso shape this single malt. The whisky comes in equal parts from hand-selected second-fill Oloroso sherry butts and ex-bourbon casks. At 5 ppm of peat, the smoke remains subtle. Wolfburn distils twice and bottles the whisky at 46%, without chill filtration or added colouring.

The casks are stored on site in traditional dunnage warehouses near the sea. The two cask types bring together honey and burnt sugar with gentle spice and sherry sweetness; dried fruit and caramel emerge on the finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

Wolfburn’s history began in 1821, when William Smith founded a distillery near Thurso and named it after the local watercourse. Today’s distillery stands close to the original site and has been distilling there again since 2013. It makes the whisky in Thurso, where the spirit also matures and is bottled.

Wolfburn makes its whisky by hand, uses water from the Wolf Burn and allows a long fermentation. Maturation takes place in its own dunnage warehouses. Aurora Brewing Limited operates the distillery and owns the Wolfburn brand.
