Wolfie's combines fruity single malts matured in American bourbon casks with sweet grain whisky. Malt whisky accounts for one quarter of the blend, and 10% of that malt component is peated. This 0.7-litre bottling contains 40% alcohol, is chill-filtered and contains added colouring. Its sweet, fruity and lightly smoky style is approachable.

The whisky brings together apple pastry, cinnamon roll and buttered toast with apple, pear, golden syrup, oats and caramel. Gentle oak and a delicate hint of smoke round out the profile.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals freshly baked apple pastry, cinnamon and buttered toast.
• Palate: The whisky is silky-smooth and distinctly sweet on the palate, where apple and pear mingle with golden syrup, oats, gentle oak and a delicate hint of peat smoke.
• Finish: Candied citrus peel and gentle oak spice linger on the finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

The Loch Lomond Group produces, blends and bottles Wolfie's at Loch Lomond Distillery, while Wolfies Drinks Ltd is responsible for the brand. Sir Rod Stewart and Duncan Frew developed the idea after a football match in Scotland and deliberately gave Wolfie's an unconventional rock 'n' roll identity.

Loch Lomond Distillery works with straight-neck and traditional swan-neck pot stills, peated and unpeated malt, and its own grain distillation. Its 92-hour fermentation helps shape the fruity character of the malts. For Wolfie's, different malt styles from the distillery are combined with a wheat-based grain whisky.
