Special features: The Writers Tears Marsala Cask Finish is a limited edition from Ireland, produced by the Walsh Whiskey Distillery. This bottling is based on a blend of Single Pot Still and Single Malt Whiskeys that mature in American oak barrels. It is then finished for 12 months in Marsala wine barrels from the Florio winery in Sicily. The blended whiskey has an alcohol content of 45% and is free from colorants. This special production gives it unique nuances and expands the profile of the Writers Tears range.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, the whisky starts with light metallic notes, followed by dusty wood notes and many candied nuts. Aromas of red grapes, honey sweetness, and green apples are added. The aromatic play is rounded off by fragrant sandalwood and juniper.
• Palate: On the palate, the whiskey presents itself thinner than expected, yet with a pleasant balance between sweet and dry flavors. Walnuts and pecans dominate, supported by light toffee as well as grapes and apples. Delicate hints of baking spices like nutmeg and pepper complete the tasting experience.
• Finish: The finish is medium, but becomes increasingly dry. Aromas of citrus peel and spicy oak provide an interesting aftertaste.

Distillery/Bottler: The Walsh Whiskey Distillery was founded in 1999 by Bernard and Rosemary Walsh in Carlow, Ireland. This distillery is known for its high-quality products and produces, among other things, the Writers Tears Blended Whiskey. The Marsala Cask Finish gets its special note from the finishing in Marsala wine barrels from the Italian winery Florio. The production process includes triple distillation, and the whiskey is bottled without chill filtration.
