Yellowstone Family Recipe draws on a recipe recorded by Stephen Beam’s grandfather, Guy Beam. A yeast strain was also reconstructed using DNA from a yeast jug belonging to his great-grandfather, Minor Case Beam. Stephen Beam had been distilling this recipe at Limestone Branch since 2015. The bourbon matured for six years in new, charred oak casks and was bottled at 50%.

The anniversary edition connects the history of the bourbon brand with that of Yellowstone National Park: both date back to 1872. To mark their shared 150th anniversary, Family Recipe was initially released in Montana and Wyoming in 2022, before reaching other US markets. A total of 6,000 cases were planned for the launch year, divided between three releases. The bottle bears the anniversary dates 1872–2022 on its neck. The whiskey is bottled without chill filtration or added colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, roasted caramel and candied nuts mingle with tobacco and oak.
• Palate: The bourbon is robust on the palate. Citrus notes and toasted oak shape the flavour, accompanied by subtle hints of marzipan and spice.
• Finish: The medium-length finish leaves a nutty aftertaste.

Distillery/Bottler:

Limestone Branch Distillery is located in Lebanon, Kentucky. Stephen Beam opened it in 2011 and carries on his family’s distilling tradition as its seventh generation. His heritage links the Beam and Dant families, both closely connected with the history of American whiskey. In 2015, he brought the Yellowstone brand back into the family.

Family Recipe is a bourbon distilled at Limestone Branch, with production guided by the inherited recipe notes and the reconstructed yeast strain. It complements Yellowstone Select and the Limited Edition within the brand’s range. The distillery’s portfolio also includes Minor Case Rye Whiskey and Bowling & Burch Gin.
