Zuidam Nonnas Aperitivo

Volume: 0.7 litres | Alcohol content: 14.9% | Chill filtration: Yes | Colouring: No

Special Features:

Nonna's Aperitivo brings the Italian aperitif tradition to Baarle-Nassau. Zuidam uses blood oranges for this creation, drawing on an Italian recipe. Its fruit-led, lightly bitter character gives citrus more prominence than bitterness.

This aperitif contains no added colouring and comes in a 0.7-litre bottle at 14.9%. To make a Nonna's Spritz, mix it over ice with Prosecco and sparkling water and garnish with a slice of orange.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Blood orange leads on the nose. A lively lemon note and a hint of aromatic herbs complement the scent.
• Palate: On the palate, juicy blood orange meets a delicate yet clearly noticeable sweetness. Light bitterness balances the fruity, sweet flavour.
• Finish: A bittersweet orange flavour lingers on the long finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

Zuidam Distillers is a family business in Baarle-Nassau in the Netherlands. Fred van Zuidam founded the distillery in 1975 after around twenty years at De Kuijper in Schiedam. A small facility of approximately 300 square metres grew into a business with a broad range of genever, liqueurs, gin, rum and whisky. His sons Patrick and Gilbert took over its management: Patrick looks after the distillery and production, while Gilbert handles customer relations.

Zuidam keeps the production of its distillates and extracts within the family business. The distillery works with natural raw materials and uses no artificial fragrances, colourings or flavourings. Its work therefore encompasses not only the finished drinks, but also the production and processing of their aromatic foundations.
